I’ve been a writer for as long as I can remember. Not short stories or novels; I’m not that creative.

I write to make sense of everything. Putting my questions and observations and experiences into words is cathartic and clarifying, which makes me want to share them.

I’m not brilliant. I’m not perfect.

But I am honest. I can be clever sometimes. I am opinionated but I’m always open to a different point of view, as long as it’s kind.

I’ve been a Senate staffer, a high school teacher, and a newspaper columnist.

I’m a mom and a wife and a yoga teacher. A student of Jesus, with questions. A textbook oldest sibling and reformed people pleaser who only learned about boundaries in my 40’s.

I come from anxiety and disordered eating and family dysfunction. But honestly, isn’t that most of us?

Which brings me to the theme of this blog: walking home together.

A wise person once said, “We are all just walking each other home.”

And we are.

Life is complicated and confusing and the world is so divided and crazy. And also beautiful and hilarious and sweet. Look, we are in this thing together. We are all doing the best we can and figuring it out as we go. We have lots more in common than not.

I hope you will see yourself and your experiences within my writing. I hope you will challenge me if I’m not being true. I hope we can enjoy this walk home, together.
